Wa Ora Montessori School has engaged DRD Builders on two occasions in the last few years. Both projects were major refurbishments of facility blocks at the school. Both projects were completed successfully and to a high standard. The team worked hard to meet deadlines and were extremely diligent. DRD Builders have worked on many projects for us in our previous house and our current home. They have always worked to a very high standard. DRD have been prepared to take on small jobs and large for us, including complex double storey chimney removal and wood-burner installation, a full kitchen and bathroom rebuild, and large scale custom cedar double glazing of doors and windows. We highly recommend the quality of their building work and look forward to completing more house improvements with DRD in the future.

We initially contracted DRD pre Covid for what we considered to be a large project and commitment. The thing that struck us the most was meeting deadlines while delivering a promise even through now post covid times. Delays or weather restraints are also addressed making client commitment paramount.

Prior to meeting DRD we previously had unfortunate experiences with a couple of Wellington builders leading us to our neighbours who had experienced good workmanship from DRD. Taking it from there we have continued to work with DRD.

The workmanship and attention to detail speaks for itself. While pricing remains fair and competitive, the value we sort was in the integrity of our build and clear communication and the flexibility to meet our budget change through our build journey.

Management and builders on site are pragmatic, approachable and willing when able to address any issue or extra work regardless of its size and managed into a realistic time frame.

Communication with all staff is open and reciprocal making the client journey a lot easier.

It is also evident that DRD employs staff with integrity, a joy to have the team onsite. We shall continue to have this company on board in the future.

I was required to complete a full reclad of my 3 story house to obtain Council code compliance. I contacted a number of builders to obtain a quote. Jesse came round to view the property and submitted a very competitive quote and was easy to deal with. I selected them without hesitation.

The job itself turned into a bigger task when they took the existing cladding off. Hadleigh managed the job from start to finish and was amazing. He made me feel at ease, kept me informed the entire way, offered solutions for challenges uncovered and delivered an amazing result. He even offered to, then took down and disposed of a large dead tree in his own time, at no cost.

I’ve now achieved code compliance, have an amazing looking house and have achieved a sale in no time at all. I couldn’t have achieved this without the help of Hadleigh, Jesse and their team. I would have absolutely no hesitations in recommending DRD for any job, large or small. If I have any further need of a builder, I know exactly who I’ll be contacting!

Things that come to mind in our time working with you:
Professional
– GANTT chart sold me on DRD’s proposal (1 of 3 builders’ proposal we reviewed), which was also professionally put together with examples of both domestic and commercial builds that they had successfully delivered.
– great communications – kept us up-to-date with progress as well as regular onsite meetings with the architect.
– changes to plans were explained well and provided with an ETC, so that we could decide whether we wanted to proceed.

Practical
– fixes to small jobs onsite (leak in bedroom cupboard; underfloor insulation) were completed with leftover material. By this I mean – DRD resolved non-visible/not in public areas issues, by using material that was still of use, but others may have thrown away/charged us more for. As a client, we appreciated this.
– discussions around the value of a change (de-squeaking the stairs; not over engineering a portion of the ceiling insulation) were provided to us in terms we could understand, so that we could make the right decision for our spend.
– really good organising subcontractors and seems to have a good team of people around him.

Impressive
– fixing a leak in the roof, prior to starting the rebuild, and not charging us for it. (It was winter, it was wet, we have a young child). Jesse didn’t have to do that.
– design flourishes like the “beading” around the beams and staircase.
– leaving a tidy worksite
– offering to drive me home, to our temporary accommodation when I had visited the site.
– always contactable
– followed up on tasks, and checked back with us to ensure that we were happy.

We have recommended DRD to several people, and plan to use Jesse and DRD for any future work.
Jesse is the only builder who has ever turned up when he said he would, kept us up to date and made sure that other tradespeople did the same. If only all builders were like this!

We have been completely satisfied with the recent full roof ,window and door replacement undertaken by DRD Builders on our house. The roof replacement was very complex and both Hadleigh and Jesse kept us informed throughout the process. Any unforeseen problems along the way were dealt with professionally and the job ran seamlessly from start to finish.

We were pleasantly surprised with the level of communication from DRD Builders having not experienced this level of attention to detail and focus on minimal disruption before. They were very attentive to every detail of the build and made life easy for our family of six throughout the process. With in excess of 10 tradesmen of site at any one time we were very impressed with the way DRD Builders organised their own staff and sub contractors on site. Their ability to work alongside architects, councils and to coordinate their building work with sub contractors is outstanding and a credit to the team they have built.

What impressed us from the beginning was the attention to detail and the timeliness of their quote compared with other building firms we’d gone out to tender with. Both Jesse and Hadleigh are straight up guys and have been great to deal with throughout the entire build.

Hadleigh took on the role of managing a small team of builders, overseeing all aspects of the build to ensure it was to the highest standard. He kept us informed every step of the way and often used great initiative to overcome some of the problems encountered. He was up front about any variations of work to the original plan and sometimes offered more than one solution.

The team were always punctual and courteous, mindful that we continued to live in the existing house and providing us with ample warning when we needed to move out of our rooms to allow the build to progress. The DRD team kept the worksite very tidy/safe at all times.
We are extremely pleased with the finished product and are looking forward enjoying our home for many a year to come. We’ve received numerous positive comments from people in our street and passers by.

We had Jesse and Hadleigh from DRD Builders over to help us fix our garage. They were reliable, hard-working and did such a good job we got them to come back and do our bathroom too.

We have just completed our first ever renovation project and Jesse made the whole process easy and as painless as possible.

We contracted Jesse to do some internal renovations to our house which is an old wooden villa. Jesse provided us with good practical advice which we much appreciated. From the initial quote to the completion of the job Jesse was professional, prompt and took the time to keep us informed on the progress.
